Title: Grey motor parts Post by: blacky on September 17, 2004, 06:36:00 AM I am chasing some hot bits for a grey motor. I have pulled the motor out of the ute to rebuild and would like to make it go a bit better , so I would like to fit twin carbs , headers , cam , and do a bit of headwork.

That price is probably fair enough for an ebay price. At swap meets, usually $80-$140. Manifolds are usually $40-$60 depending on type. Usually pay a few buck more ($10-$20) for the linkages. Chasing up a pair of strombergs usually isn't that hard, but then you have to kit them. Regards, Rob J Title: Re: Grey motor parts Post by: blacky on September 18, 2004, 04:18:16 AM Thanx Rob , just picked up a set of carbs with manifold , and a set of extractors from this website , have found a bloke in Perth to grind a cam ,just need to find a set of pistons and a head now , or info on the best way to modify a head- what size valves ,etc.
Title: Re: Grey motor parts Post by: nicko on September 18, 2004, 05:40:13 AM my old Grey had 179 holden valves fitted with a set of new valve springs about 20LBS heavier than stock spring seat pressure,with the ports matched to the gaskets and it was very fast for a holden 6 but you will need to get the crank bearing supports to stop flex especially if your running a hot cam and repco hi comp pistons like my engine was.i remember reading a few posts several months ago about Rob or someone who could make the bridged crank supports up.
