Title: Glue removal???
Post by: utey on July 08, 2004, 02:07:18 AM
Whats the best/easiest way to remove 40 year old glue from door shuts?
Tried petrol, heat, scrape all work but  a bit tedious.
Any ideas or is it just hard work?

Nick

Nick,

I used a wire wheel on an electric drill. Worked a treat with minimum effort, but I was painting the car. Might not be suitable if you're just replacing rubbers.

Cheers,

Craig.

Prepsol or other wax removers applied a couple of times with a soft cloth worked well for me. The really old dry stubborn stuff I sprayed with WD40 & let sit for a day then cleaned it off with Prepsol.

Plenty of ideas I'll give them a go over the weekend.
Thanks.
