Title: subframe alignment Post by: Jonno on May 27, 2004, 05:18:38 AM Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has any tips for fixing the subframe to the body. I'm having trouble getting a consistent gap between the front edge of the doors and the front guards. The gap at the bottom about 6-7mm greater than that at the top. Since this is the same on both sides of the car, it looks like its a problem with the way the subframe sits, almost like it needs to rotate forward just a little. Is the subframe just a bolt on and thats what you get thing or is it usual to use spacers etc. to try to get the fit? This is not the original subframe but the one I had on before wasn't either so can't quite see what the problem is. thanks, Jon Title: Re: subframe alignment Post by: andykotzur on June 04, 2004, 08:35:44 AM If all the bolt holes line up on the subframe instilation , it should be correct.
You could try loosening your guards bolts. Line up the door- guard gap , tighten that up first. Then push the rest of the guard into place. I have a guard that sort of bows out around the wheel arch. I had to force that inwards to get the proper alignment. good luck Title: Re: subframe alignment Post by: Jonno on June 04, 2004, 10:06:35 AM yeah, there does seem to be a bit of slop in the thing. I took it off and put it back on again and its now quite a bit better (but not perfect). Will have to push real hard to get the guards lined up.
