Title: SUBFRAME MOUNTING SEAL ?
Post by: Blown_FC on April 17, 2004, 04:36:47 AM
Is there any special seal or sealant used between the firewall and the upper part of the subframe where they bolt together ???

Cheers

I have used "sikaflex" and I know others on this site have done the same. Also it is possible to use drip chek sealant.

Whilst sikaflex will certainly seal the gap, it will make it very difficult to get the subframe off later - say if you have an accident - I use a non hardening sealer which does the best job in my opinion.  A thin bead of sikoflex down the exposed gap in the engine bay will allow a firm base for cleaning etc.
