Great shot Mal.

RET, or maybe Alex, do you have a shot of Mal's car from the run today? Could you post it up so guys can see the fantastic restoration that Mal has just completed?

For those of you who don't know Mal has just spent a couple of years restoring his FE, carrying out all the work himself except the retrimming of seats and hoodlining replacement. Nearly 50 years after first purchasing the car and Mal still has the pleasure of driving it around - that's what its all about.

Hey Mal, when are we going to see the rest of the old photos  ;D

Cheers,

Craig.

Well done, Mal.
I too am keen to see some photos of the finished product. There is a fella here in our club who has had his FE since new as well. He couldn't do the resto (got others to do it), but to have a car that long & to spend that amount of time & money on an old Holden that you have had so long, classifies you guys as True Holden lovers.
Good job. Bring on the old photos as well. I love them!

   ;) Great photo Mal.
I'm sorry I missed you all today.
Yesterday I started feeling like I had the flu.
I got Fee ready for the blacktown show. but when I got up this morning and went outside to see how the weather was at 6am.
The weather  looked great but I felt really crook :'( and went back to bed. Sorry fellows.
Mal is that a standard ten in the background.
Regards Leon.

Way to go.
I love the drag meeting shots, Mal. Does the car still have the triples, or is it standard again? It looks brilliant at the Motorfest. Credit to you.

Hey Mal.
Great old pics. I love the Castlereagh pics.
I think you should have restored it to its 1964 version. ;)
Dig those traction rods under the rear.
Love the white spats and lower rear 1/4. Did the white go around to the back of the car?
Here's a pic taken today at the Blacktown Show

 Thanks Alex,

The 1964 version maybe in the pipeline.

The spats were stolen in the 60s.

The paint did go around the back and I've also
 removed the FC fins

Hadn't notice the fins before.
Got any pics of the rear 2 tone?
If your going to recreate the '64 version, I wouldn't suggest you steal another set of spats. You were lucky to get away with the first set. ;D :D ;D
Just kidding. ;) ;D ;) ;D  ;D

Mal & Alex, Are they traction rods or tramp rods ? I had a whole heap of those new old stock. They were for Ford Anglia & Datsun 1000 would you believe, only 1 set for FE-FC so I've saved them for one of my cars.
Good to see the car out & about Mal, looks great.

Car is lookin real good, Mal.

My FC wagon was my grandfathers car he purchased in 1962 from a Ballarat dealer.  I even have the original certificate of registration of motor car complete with transfer information glued on the back.  He taught me how to drive in this car when i was around 12/13 years old (bugger, that is long long long  time ago). I guess that makes me it's third owner, and from  memory probably only it's third driver - even my dad was not allowed to drive this car....... (and still hasn't!!).  I have had the car since 1989 and it has been my daily driver everywhere since then.

Am currently rebuilding it, but unfortunately getting older hasn't meant growing up, and instead of restoring it I have turned it into a fc wagon bodied vl commodore.  It is not far from being ready to test drive before pulling it to bits again for paint and trim.

have just come into possession of a digital camera, so will take detailed photo's of all work done and post them somewhere for those interested.

Again, great work Mal.

Graeme

Standard motor was fitted in 1976 from a car I wrecked.
Have only done minor repairs to engine, not too keen to drive very far till a reco engine is fitted.
Still have triple manifold, linkages, Jack Myers headers and well worn motor.
Need to locate some very slim air filters as the rear carby was close to firewall.
Also still have the car's original motor but is in need of reconditioning.

Gary,

The rods adjacent to  the rear springs were called tramp rods in the old days. They prevented axle hop when accelerating hard from stationary.I made mine from a chrome plated FX taxi handrail. (My first Holden was a FX business model ex taxi sold minus rail)

My parents traded the ply van in and purchased this Viscount Caravan new in 1966.

The FE also towed this van on several holidays to Queensland.

Mal,

Interesting to see that at some stage post 1965 your FE 'grew' a bonnet mascot, only to lose it again circa 2003.

Spinner,

I have 2 FE mascots but they are pitted, so I welded the holes in the bonnet

nice shots Mal,
Good time capsule effect.  Did the FE know it was home?  Did it try to turn into the driveway.

If you don't mind me saying, you wear your tennis shorts a bit lower these days (which is probably much more comfortable) ;) ;)

Excellent to see a car kept in the same family for so long.  The history is an important part of any car.
