Title: Hubcap Red
Post by: Spinner on March 03, 2004, 11:59:53 AM
On the weekend, I took a couple of hours time out from working on the FE to repaint its hubcaps (busman's holiday or what?).  The black is okay, I chose the closest of the 23 shades  ;D that I had and went for it. ;D

Unfortunately, the red was a little different.   :P I used a nice red that I'd call 'signal red', similar to what you'd find on a steam locomotive's buffer beam.  It is the wrong shade,  :o  both from my memoory of FEs & FCs when they ruled the streets and what was left on the hubcaps.

Question for all comers: what is the red as used on the hubcaps, quarter panel badges, front mudguard spears and bootlid nameplates called?  Where d'yer get it? etc etc etc.

Cheers

Old Commodore colour, "Marinillo Red" or spelling something like that, has been discussed and posted before.
This colour is available in those paint touch up bottles at auto shops.
