Title: oil filer advice
Post by: knickers on February 23, 2004, 05:40:44 AM
Can any one tell me size of the EK remote oil filter cannister, I have one that is supposed to be for EK but seems to be fairly large in height at 200 mm. Have seen for sale & they seem to be shorter than the one I have.

Am also looking for the metal brake & clutch fluid
resevoirs.

cheers Nick

Nicker's
First of all you need to tell us all what type of cannister you have. Brand name and model would be a start. ???

There were 3 different types for the holden grey motor.  AC filter kit was K5 or part number 7406603.  Ryco have a filter element available with part number R2080P.  Holden part number for element was 7961457.

Fram kit was holden part number 7405426.  Replacement filter from Ryco is part number R3P.  Holden part number for element was 7405460.

Ryco filter kit takes Ryco filter number R4P.  Holden part number was M31381.

I don't pretend to be an expert on this subject, i just had to go through the same thing about 6 months back.  With the help of the forum, the tech advice on NSW website, and Ryco Filters website, i think i've manage to list the above information correctly.  haven't seen it all together anywhere, so it may be a help to others.  I will stand corrected though!  ;) :D :D

Shayne.

nickers,
According to Ryco website, your filter is for a bedford.

so Shayne that would also suggest that the filter 'housing' (for the want of a better word) I have is not for the grey motor.
From pictures I have seen the grey motor filter 'housing' seems a lot smaller in actual height - say round 150mm.
The diam is the same as the correct mounting bracket I have fits this one ok
