Hi Team,
I have been searching for a gearshift knob for a while and have been shocked at the the prices being asked for repro ones. All of the originals I have seen are also bloody expensive and most are missing the stainless cap in the end. Son 2 has picked up a 3D printer so I thought it worthwhile to have a crack a printing a replacement gearhift knob. I based the design on some measurements I found on the forum and decised to print a solid version with a printed thread and an insert for the stainless cap.
This is how it turned out (disregard the purple - it is a prototype).

I plan to get a polished stainless disc and secure it in place to complete the knob. I will see if I can polish up the prototype or if I need to paint it to achieve the finish I want/
Happy to share the 3D file if anyone wants to make their own.
Cheers n Beers
Craig
Craig,
Good on you for 3D printing the gear knob. "Maco" made up a batch of reproduction gear knobs a while back and still may have them.
I think FE-FC gear knobs started to fall apart very early on. I've seen more than one FE-FC with an FJ Special gear knob.

Our FC had the end cap missing. How about a bayonet handle, no wait, 8 ball. Bayonet handle for your dip stick. 😄
