Title: Oil Filter adapter
Post by: ACT59FC on March 16, 2016, 09:16:14 PM
I recently purchased an AC oil filter, I am after an adapter to screw into the block. The one you screw the oil sender into as well as the braided line that goes to the filter. If anyone has one they are willing to sell I'd love to hear from you.

Regards Rod.

Your local hydraulic shop or some parts places have lots of brass adaptors and fittings that should get you out of trouble.

Oil pressure and grey motors dont mix Rod... :D

Whatever you use im sure it will be enough.

Petes's right... greys do not like a full-bore flow on a remote filter. You will starve the block. The system needs a restrictor of about 1.5mm diameter in it. More info here:

Yes tried a full flow system on a grey once .[Valiant remote filter on the inner guard] Seized engine . Pulled the dipstick because the oil light came on just before it squealed to a stop and guess what ? No oil showing on the stick . Gave it 3 minutes and the sump was overfull . Lesson learned . If anyone is interested I have one of these AC Delco setups in my spares [hoses, restrictor, canister and bracket and clamp it came of an early Hillman Minx ] .Haydn

Do you use a remote filter Haydn? Or do you prefer to just leave it and change the oil more regularly? I like the thought of at least some filtration of the oil.

Most of us today use our old Holdens  sparingly and around here I am probably the last guy to use an FC as a daily drive [work horse ] . I always felt better after giving the old girl a full service . Either way , oils are much better than they were and roads less dusty . I know , that didn't answer your question ,but yes I've run plenty with and without . In balance I don't know if there is much difference .Extra oil changes verses filters . Air filter and breather cap are also important . This might be of interest to someone . I watched Dr Blake the other night and he was experimenting with nepheline and I remembered that the old bloke I got my FC van from told me he would put moth balls  in the fuel tank as well as those blue bleach bombs[ copper sulphate ] in a piece of stocking in the top radiator hose . Just thought I would put it out there to see what people think. Cheers Haydn
