Title: Tail Gate Rubbers
Post by: utey on July 12, 2003, 08:18:40 AM
Just fitted new rubbers very hard to close tail gate (took two of us and only closed one side)
Adjusted striker plates as far as they would go.
Can the tail gate be adjusted?
Thanks

Make sure the rubber is all fitted in the channel correctly, if it is, then find where the rubber is being crushed as you close the gate, try trimming the rubber around the hinge area, this is most likely where it is not fitting correctly.

Hi All.
Ken, I think he means the tailgate from a ute. I assume this, as his user name is "Utey". I experienced the same trouble when putting them onto my ute. I softened them with this spray stuff first & then closed it. It was still hard, but in the end worked.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Rob J

Thanks.
Will leave closed for the next couple of weeks to see if it helps.
If no good might have to trim.
Do utes have tailgate rubbers?
