Title: Like a Boss Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on November 09, 2014, 09:23:54 AM I am tidying up a Thomas Twin Stromberg manifold for polishing and want to know if the boss in the picture (on the side of the manifold just forward of the front carb) is important and if I can remove it and still have a functioning twin carb setup.

If this is the case, you can remove it. Just double check it's not hollow inside before cutting it off (feel though the carb hole with a bit of wire). It will mean though that you will need to run married linkage on the carbs (W-clip type) rather than divorced linkage. The only other thing that comes to mind is that it appears from the flange to be a red motor manifold - some of these were water heated. It's not an (unmachined) water jacket outlet is it? Cheers, Harv Title: Re: Like a Boss Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on November 09, 2014, 11:22:51 PM Thanks Harv, it is a solitary boss, not hollow. The carbs that came with the manifold have the W-clip style link that you describe.
