Title: Still out there
Post by: weddo on September 01, 2014, 09:12:27 PM
Having a bit of a drive around today and found these at Cape Clear, property next to the pub. Could only get as close as the lense as no one was around. Might be worth a knock on the door if any one is out and about. FC Wagon, windowless panel van, at least one but possible two sedans and a couple of humpies in disrepair.

regards

Weddo

The windowless van looks like it is salvageable. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers Ole.

I can confirm they all belong to a Vic club member who was at the nats in Tasmania.
You may remember the original black and yellow FC sedan.......

Hello Weddo,

The old bloke guarding these for me says he is a bit long in the tooth, but he can still shoot straight, so I would not like people to go bashing on the door.

The van is restorable and is patiently waiting in line for a v8 conversion, I have had it for many, many years and it is unlikely to be for sale while I am vertical.
The wagon is a standard and is in transit to a better place.

If my mother gets inundated with people knocking on the door (she 'will' blame me), I will happily pass on your phone number for her to pass on her thanks.
She is fairly good at feedback.

Regards,
Tony

LOL that's funny
I've only known Tony for about 50 years and know the family very well.
I went to school in Cape Clear

What on earth took you through there Weddo? it's not really on the way to anywhere.

By the way there is another property not far away with over 100 cars scattered around along the creek.
Will look for some photos.

Ken

Uummm, just changing my phone number at the moment and putting on my running shoes so I can duck and weave a bit..

Sorry if I cause any inconvenience to your mum Tony (and pass on our regards to Katrina)

What a co-incidence!!!! with both Tony and Ken, I'm still chuckling.

Judi and I are just trotting around where our nose leads us, been away for two months and are due back on the boat on the 26th. We just park up, unhook the van and do a bit of sight seeing.

Would love to see the other pics Ken.

regards

G'day Weddo,

Are you still in the area?  Would love to catch up if you have time.

Cheers, Graeme

Property yards like this are becoming very rare in mid NSW country since a major environmental drive years ago, mainly to clean up the creeks.
The scrap metal dealers did quite well out of it but so much was lost forever.
I've heard of only a couple places since but the property owners have become very secretive about their locations fearing unwelcome visitors.
