Hi All
Has anyone brought or made the rubbers that go under the tailgate hinges.
Any help appreciated.

Because of their in unavailability I have tried to use originals where possible but on one occasion I used a high density rubber which I carved to the shape of the original.
I don't think they can be cut on a water jet due to the 3 dimensional nature of them.

Thanks Ken, would you have a picture or dimensions of the rubbers, Pete might be able to cut the basic shape and I could finish by hand.

If all works well could post some finished photo's to help others.

At the risk of highlighting my lack of knowledge in this area , I haven't seen these on either of my wagons, what are they and where do they go?

Thanks.

This is the rubber. The major difference between left and right hand side is the bevel below the hinge

Part number is 7401175 for LH & 7401176 for RH

Basically it is a water seal where the main seal does not fill the gaps around the hinge.

Hi CoolFC
Basically the rubbers fit under (or around) the hinges where they bolt to the tailgate.
Thanks heaps for the pics Ken, Will try and knock something up on the weekend, keep you posted,

Andrew

If a close facsimile can be cut to shape out of high density foam rubber then you could try smearing the shape with a product from Adheseal called Everflex a polyurethane adhesive for a final smooth finish . After the shape has been cut smear it over with the adhesive then wipe it smooth with a grease and wax remover like Prepwash .It can be sanded then reshaped until you get it correct. A friend of mine gave me some to repair tears in upholstery. Try it ,its loads of fun , a five minute job can turn into hours of cleaning up. Haydn
