Title: zCaring for Chrome
Post by: NES304 on May 22, 2013, 11:26:24 AM
So I don't continue to Hijack PEDRO's thread...
What's the best way to care for stuff that's been rechromed then? I noticed my front bar (was done 6 years ago and never seen water) is coming up with rust spots... >:(
I've heard Mr. Sheen is pretty good

Basically anything that is waterproof. From oil or grease to wax and anything in between.

You will find its either  the nice salty air and coal dust coming down the corridor where you are in the n/e winds.

I lived near sorry 10 metres near a train line little specks of rust started setlling all over my car .
Made a mess... like tar sprayed on but weeping russt.

Ok, straight from the electroplaters, the best thing to protect chrome is Mr sheen, apparently it puts a silicon type of coating on it, that's why some of our chrome is rusting before it even gets weather on it it's like leaving bare metal with no protection, he also said to make sure we paint the backs of all the chrome pieces especially the die cast as the corrosion starts from the inside and works it's way out.

i've just started using Gibbs Lubricant on my bare metal things.. too early to give a review for long term but it seems good for everything.

For my car outside ive actually used KBS Diamond coat to clear coat the chrome.

Cheers
