Title: Newspaper Adverts on-line at Trove
Post by: REDMR2RED on February 03, 2013, 03:54:17 PM
If you haven't visited Trove before, this is what a search for Holden Australias own car bought up.  There are loads of them.   ;D   ;D   ;D

Thanks for the link. Looks like hours of fun. Seems a little clunky when you are trying to save an image. Any tips on how to get the image to be on the same page and complete?
There is a seperate board here that has dozens of adverts posted.
Infact, if you find an advert that isn't posted on that board, I'd like to know about it.  ;)
Regards
Alex

There is a slide bar on the bottom RH corner to resize the page to fit your screen, then I do a print screen, copy that to photoshop crop it and save it to my computer.

To me that is the easiest and quickest.

You can search for any words that might be in the advert and in the left menu options you can select advertising to eliminate articles and family notices.

I use Trove for family history research, and have birth, marriage and death notices for many of my Rellies.

This one (below) using the advanced search option from The Australian Women's Weekly (1933 - 1982) Wednesday 21 May 1958 p 36 Advertising Illustrated

http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/47508074

It took about two minutes to resize the page, print screen twice for both pages, crop, stitch them together (it was a full two page spread) and save it to my computer.
