hi all
Just curious, my 59 model ex Sydney assembled FC has no bonnet emblem and now that i have stripped it back to metal see no holes welded up. Can anyone put light on the reason why some have and some do not.

it was an optional extra.

As Just40 said, an optional extra or "NASCO Accessory". Here are the details from our Tech Info area (http://www.fefcholden.org.au/techinfo/nasco/trimstyle/hoodornament.html).
