Today I tracked down the 90 odd year old neighbour of the original owner. She gave me the name of the original owners wife who is still alive and in a nursing home. I'll have to try and catch up with her. I'll post some more info on my build page. The car did have dots under window. A lot more info now. The lady said the owner was her neighbour and all her kids used to pile in the taxi and go down to the beach.

Yes I'm pretty sure now that it had the black stripes on the roof like they had with the Fe in the opening day pic on my build page and white around windows and does where the white was but the old lady said they were diamonds. Later when proper signs were used they went to more mundane schemes in acrylic paints and dots replaced with black.

In India! The guy leaning on the car is most likely an immigrant anyway, I'm not sure about anywhere else but in Adelaide the '70s and '80s Taxi Stereotypes were Greek, Italian or other European and my Uncle was one of them. Beaded seat covers hadn't been invented but there were often Rosary Beads hanging from the rear view mirror with the air-freshener.
I work with 4 indians out of a team of 6 and I am always hanging shit on them about their driving. Now some of them cant go back there and drive cos they are too soft with our road rules and they freak out now when driving over there cos anything goes.

I was talking to an older guy today. He said in Adelaide when he was arrested in 1960 and put in a cop car the same year, it was an FC with a taxi rail in the back in the cop cat and it was white and he was handcuffed to it. I thought he was pulling my leg but he wasn't.
That taxi is cool FE ute! Never seen that colour scheme.
He I found an old becks packet in the ute in an obscure place under the glovebox compartment insert. It had powder so I thought it might be cocaine until my mum told me it was a powder :D :D :D

Hi Dave This car comes from Toowoomba and is basicly as it came of the rank years ago, the owner has a couple of other old cabs as well. Did you notice the front gaurd spears aer on upside down? Roy

Hi Dave , Other side is the same, have seen the car at a few all holden days and is really is straight off the rank, his other cabs from memory are an eh and a f@#d I think, black one is in peices at the moment just correcting a few things that were not done right E.G. all door bubbers fitted on wrong side and engine is the wrong colour and cleaning underneath , just personalising it a bit . Roy
