Title: Anyone got a WW Strommie and a steel rule?
Post by: Harv on October 26, 2011, 12:18:06 AM
I'm in the process of pulling together a Guide for 350 Holley carbs fitted to red motors (I know, I know it's bordering on off-topic... but I promise to make the document early Holden-centric  ;D). In the guide I'll cover some of the adaptors that are available for running the Holley on different factory manifolds (as well as the aftermarket manifolds). I've got some good dimensions for the Holley, and for the single-barrel Strommies (see drawing below). What I would like to get my hands on is the dimensions for the WW Strommie (2-barrel) flange. Has anyone got a WW-Strommie sitting on a bench that they could measure for me please (with a vernier or good steel rule, not with a tape measure)?

Theres a twisted bit of me that says buy a swapmeet one for $10 and measure it, but theres enough bloody carbs in the shed now in pieces and being written-up without me adding WW Strommies to the list  ::).

Cheers,
Harv.

G'day Jim,

As far as I know, the VB was the last Holden (and only Commodore) with the WW Stromberg. I understand the VK 202s used the GM Strasbourg Varajet 2-barrel, or Bosch LEII-Jetronic fuel-injection. If you've got a Varajet kicking around, I wouldn't mind the flange dimensions on it please  ;D.

Cheers,
Harv.

G'day Harv
The VB commadore was the last red motor to use the single barrel stommie
the VC  with the new blue motor used the varajet
The WW-2 strommie was only used on the 186K,186S and on 253 red motor's

  Cheers  Rob

Dave,

Thats the one I'm after please  :).

Rob,

Many thanks.... bad missread on my part (VB Commodores were definitely single barrel).

According to these guys:
http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/holden_commodore_VB_technical_specifications.htm
the WW was also used on HQ 202ci normal compression engines (low compression got the single barrel) and the LC 161S GTR engine.
(don't ask how long it takes to scroll through and write down all the early Holden carbs  ::)).

Cheers,
Harv

Hi Harv,
Just like Rob, I never saw a HQ with a WW-2.
I know it's hard to believe, but could it be a mis-print?  :o

Thanks FC427 - appreciated.

Could well be a misprint on the HQ carbs.

Cheers,
Harv.
