Title: Help Required with Standard Front End Post by: KFH on June 03, 2011, 06:29:53 PM I have a factory front in my FC. A while ago I pulled the front end apart to clean and replace the rubber seals and king pin bushes. All went together well, however I noticed that it appeared to have negative camber and didn't worry about it at the time. Now that I am reassembling the car I had a look at it today. As a crude method I used a spirit level and found each wheel needed to come out more at the top by approx 1/4" to be vertical this is after I adjusted the camber out as far as it will go. I pulled the springs out as I had to change some faulty rubber seals and found the springs were approx 1/4 of a turn out from being fully down to the lowest point on the lower control arm. This has made very little difference.
The wheels have sufficient turning angle and comparing the assembly to photos I took before dismantling it I can see no problem. I have noticed that with the vehicle sitting on the floor with motor in but no doors or windscreen the top bump rubbers are hard up against the cross member. Is this normal? I cannot see anything wrong. Any help and suggestions would be appreciated. I believe everything was correct before pulling it apart. In the cars normal stance should the upper bump rubbers sit on the cross member? I would have thought that the bump stops would be equidistant in the travel area. My theory is that if there was more weight in the front this would happen and the camber would be around the 0 degrees not around -5 at the moment. My 80 kg makes no difference to ride height. Maybe doors and windscreen will make the difference.
Anybody have any suggestions please. Keith Title: Re: Help Required with Standard Front End Post by: fb delivery on June 04, 2011, 09:09:20 PM Keith

The only possible thing that could go wrong is that the springs could be seating incorrectly in the tower. There is a guide up there which can sometimes get bent. What happens is that you put the spring in place correctly and then when you pull the spring into place in the lower wishbone it can go out of place in the tower and bend the guides. Then the spring won't seat properly.
