May help a bit. Title: Re: rust Post by: Ed on May 13, 2011, 11:47:02 AM nice work Spanner...
Rod, As JB said most of them rust out here. time to get under and get dirty I'm afraid. The job is a little bit involved, but is fairly straight forward. rusted out at the subframe attachment point. (http://s1.postimage.org/a65v7uis/IMG_3000.jpg) ($2) cut out the rust and re-fab the inner sill.. the bolt was used for alignment. A threaded rod to the inner mount was also used to establish the correct position.. lots of measuring here. (http://s1.postimage.org/a6attw04/IMG_3002.jpg) ($2) If you are lucky the outer hole will be there to help get the proper geometry.. if not.. repair this section first to be used as a reference point later. (http://s1.postimage.org/a6e4wkzo/IMG_3006.jpg) ($2) Folded steel channel crossmember repair. I prefer to make my own than to try make the repro ones fit... it's faster and more accurate. (http://s1.postimage.org/a6fsfxhg/IMG_3007.jpg) ($2) Finished job including the floor repair as viewed fro below. (http://s1.postimage.org/a6kr1yys/IMG_3013.jpg) ($2) hope this helps Ed Title: Re: rust Post by: rod67 on May 13, 2011, 06:06:36 PM Hi i would like to thank everyone who has replied has anyone got pictures of the bottom of A pillar repair with the hole section gone where the subfame bolts up if i could work out how to put pictures up i could show the rust problem thank's again for the help rod67
