Title: To cover or not cover...
Post by: Champ58FC on October 01, 2010, 06:26:38 PM
Hi fellas,

I have a question I hope you can answer and assist me with.
We have recently added a shed type of a garage to our carport. We simply added two sections of double color bond which enclosed the area, and included a panel lift door. So, in essence it is a shed/garage.
I have left little holes through out the upper sides and a small section in the upper front. The side holes are about an average fist and they are all along the upper sides. The front hole is about 35cm long and 15cm deep. This one provides a camera surveillance to poke through the gap to monitor the front drive.

So, the question is...will I need to put a car cover on or can the old girl go without one???
When we didn't have this covered area the car was still under the carport and no rain got to it, only wind...
I've heard that some car covers won't let the paint breath??!!!...True??

Let me know of your thoughts please guys.

Cheers,

Han.

Not sure about the dust side of things where you are - I have bought material covers that let the air breathe as such - maybe something like that would work for you? A plastic cover I could see causing condensation...

Unless it is new paint it is not a concern and all quality car covers are designed to breathe. It is a good idea to cover your car to eliminate dust, bird droppings, etc and i always have some rat/mice bait around your shed because the damage they can do is shocking if given the chance!

The cat and his friends used to frequent around the FC and spray their stuff on the cover which absolutely stunk >:(
Now that everything is enclosed he has no access ;D haha
