I was trying to decode a 161 motor "161NxxxxS" and can't find any info anywhere. I did happen across the Unique Cars and Parts site ($2) and their information shed no light. However, they list a 186NxxxxS" block as a

Nasco (or equivalent) Replacement Motor for HK-HG (for engines supplied post HQ release)
would it be resonable to assume that my motor is a Nasco replacement motor?

A bit of digging around and I found some info on the gmh-torana forum, if I understand correctly it is a Nasco replacement short motor.
