Definitely a fuel problem, it has no carby!!!

Nasty hole in the piston. I reckon it still would have run though. ;D

Ahh That's nothing, just a bit of no more gaps and she'l be right ;)

Did the timing gear strip causing the piston to hit the valve? What was the cause of the hole in the piston?

I think its supposed to drop cylinders to save fuel.  New commodore has same feature.

the battery is NOT connected  ::).

even  I  could see that.

just try attaching the wire thing with a clampy thing on it  to the lumpy bit of the battery (the big square boxey thing in the corner) and you should be OK then, I think  ???.

I'd say that a valve head broke off and punched the hole in the piston.  My old man had a Bedford truck many moons ago that was in the habit of doing that.  You could tell when it had happened because suddenly it left a huge white cloud of oil smoke out the back.

My engine builder reckons the head leaked and the engine "hydro locked"... i believe him, as he's pretty knowledgable.
Anyways, this is where its at, i thought while its out give it a basic cleanup... , but getting it back tomorrow i hope...

Nelgy,

The engine bay looks tidy, now all that's needed is a tidy engine to fill it. I hope all goes well with the refit

I had a little honda civic years ago that hyraulic'd before I purchased it.  Motor was locked solid.  After inspection piston appeared in 1 piece.  Con rod was bent and hitting block.  When I went to the honda spare parts mob it was the first time they had seen a honda rod bend.  Infact they have a poster showing all other brands of rods all bent up and how the honda ones didn't bend..
