Title: Spark Plug Types
Post by: Paul In Ireland on February 26, 2010, 11:43:08 AM
What are the current thoughts on best model plugs to use in a grey? Bear in mind where I am so model numbers and manufacturers would be useful and I can use those to source them here.

thanks

Paul, Not sure whether the Vauxhall dealers over there stock AC Delco parts, but I would recommend AC plugs Part Number R43S.

Hope this helps?

Cheers,

Graham

I just fitted some to my grey, bear in mind that there are two different heads, one with 1/2" deep threads and one with 3/8 or 5/8 deep. will have to check it out. I will remove one and get the details off one and let you know the thread depth of the ones i got.

I have a thread depth of 1/2 inch and the previous owners servicing person fitted 3/8 plugs. Poor little grey blew smoke and burnt oil. Re tapped threads and fitted NGK BP5HS. Now no oil burning and runs smooth as ice. Hope this helps. Have sent you an email with some info i found last year but the site has now shut down.

Good luck with the hunt.

I have found the AC plugs don't work as well as Bosch. The AC have a short reach while the Bosch are long reach. I won't use NGK at all, after having 2 crook batches of new plugs. I fitted them for the Mt. G. nats, only to have to fit the old Bosch plugs to get going, which are still in the car.
