Title: Stub and rotor combos? Post by: gwuthie on November 09, 2009, 12:32:00 AM There is a heap of stuff around about this, but could someone please answer these questions...
Stubs.- What stubs are the same (or close enough to) as the HQ variety?? Rotors.- What rotors will fit on these stubs. (VB commo etc??) And I'm under the impression I should use hk (or something similar??) steering arms with a rear mount p/s rack. Or will it depend on how/where i mount the rack in said rear position. gwuthie Title: Re: Stub and rotor combos? mcl1959 & RET, what about putting up a "sticky" popular combinations with do and don'ts to these questions in General Technical or Modification Help..........or is it already there ??? No offence gwurthie Title: Re: Stub and rotor combos? Post by: mcl1959 on November 11, 2009, 09:02:21 PM 1. HK to WB are all the same stubs - castings are different through the years and I have seen some foul on P76 rotors - but they all are essentially the same.
2. All rotors with A and B bearing sets will fit onto the stubs - that means every rotor that Holden made from HR to VP will fit onto the stub axle - what wont fit are a large range of calipers from these models. 3. The HK steering arms are suggested as they are a good length and get the tie rod end out of the way of the rim when deeper inset rims are used. But yes, you are correct that the steering arms used can be matched with rack position. HQ steering arms are very straight and can foul on rims, HQ power steer are short and can give a heavy steering feel unless you are using a power rack. HR steering arms don't really get the steering geometry correct by positioning the tie rod end too low. Ken Title: Re: Stub and rotor combos? Thanks Ken. Title: Re: Stub and rotor combos? Post by: ehsv6 on November 12, 2009, 09:04:10 PM Have a read of Hopper Stoppers web site - Holden Technical Article, covers info on stubs, rotors etc www.hoppers.com.au

i just realised why my rack is at a weird angle. i must have hr arms i'm running 14 inch ht rims. what would be the best steering arm? and gwuthie try and go hq or later combo cause they have vented discs which dont get so hot i went torri discs etc which i am regretting a bit good luck . If the rack was not set up correctly in the first place, then no arm is going to fix it.

If its a CRS rack then the arms should have been re shaped, these used to be a changeover when you bought the kit. |
