Title: Mystery holes in FC dash - can anyone tell me what belongs here??
Post by: Mutley on August 31, 2009, 01:59:21 PM
Hi all

Just wondering if anyone knows what used to belong on my FC's dash.  There are 3 diagonally drilled holes just above the glove box and to the left side of the speaker grill.  Central hole is slightly larger then the other two.  Looks like it's for a  badge / signage but I'm not sure.

Any ideas or if your FC has something there, can you please let me know (post a pic if you can!!)

cheers

Mutley

Could have been for a cooling fan Mutley, they were often mounted in this area, possibly 2 mounting holes & 1 for the wire

This one in our panelvan is mounted on the drivers side, but I have seen them mounted to the passenger side and the speaker grille

Hi Zulu

Yeah could be a cooling fan.....

The hole pattern from your pic is different to what's on my dash (mine are diagonal all in a row - not triangle formation as in your diagram)

I never thought of a fan ... I thought it might be a badge (?????)

Anyway, any other ideas or posts would be appreciated!!

cheers

Mutley

I'm finding it difficult to picture what you mean - how big are the holes, how far apart? Are they in the charcoal dash-top or the body-coloured front-face of the dash?

If you could post a pic of the dash it might help.

Could have been a tacho as well, these were common in the 70's.

I don't think it would have been a badge

Mutley sent me a pic of the dash, here it is:

I'm inclined to agree with Ken, quite possibly for a tacho, but could be for a fan. Two smaller holes for the bracket, and one larger one for the wiring loom.
