Great shots Spinner I am a bit of a Railway nut ...Would you know the name or number of the  of the Locomotive that achieved the worlds longest non stop run for steam traction of 422 miles 7.59 chains between Parks and Broken Hill in August 8th 1989 ??????Thanks ......FC427......

Including the one you mention, looks like Steam Power was alive & well back in '62

Being a train driver in queensland rail it sorta lets me know what can happen every day at work as I drive coal trains but very interesting indeed.

That'd be 4472 'Flying Scotsman', as Zulu said.

It is a British steam locomotive, brought out to Australia for Austeam88 http://www.flickr.com/photos/29565670@N06/sets/72157607233468219/ ($2)

The late Wal Stuchbery mortgaged his house to cover the costs of hiring it, in a foreign country, for a year.  I formed part of its support crew, only when it was being worked on in Eveleigh.

Thanks Spinner and Zulu ......I bought a plaque many years ago at auction with this information on it and always wondered what Locomotive had done it ....GO 4472 Flying Scotsman...........FC427.......
