Title: Fuel Tank
Post by: J on April 25, 2009, 09:51:41 PM
G'day
Im currently rebuilding my ol grey motor and decided to drop a new old fuel tank in.
This tank came with the car, as the one currently in there is a bit leaky.

Problem is, I drive an EK, the fuel tank I am dropping in is slightly different (fuel sender area is narrower then the one already in the ek)
I was wondering if it is out of an FE or FC? and if it would fit directly in the EK?

The sender in the second photo does not look like it goes in the fuel tank in the second photo.
The tank looks like FE / FC or FB / EK but the sender looks like EH or HR. The gasket looks like an FB / EK indicator lens gasket.
The FE / FC fuel tank will bolt into the FB / EK floor, but the filler neck is too short.

thanks guys,
just figured out the new tank actually came out of and fb/ek wreck.
Therefore the neck on it should be ok...

Anybody know how to get the little lip (for the cap to twist onto) off the current fuel tank? Or where to buy a new one?
and if there are any new fuel senders that will give me a better reading, considering I have to buy a new one?

Thanks
Jay ;D

Replace with any sender that reads 0 ohms empty & 30 ohms full, which is correct for most pre 1965 GM vehicles.

might be worth visiting the FB/EK forum and searching 'fuel tank sender'
