Title: If you have been wondering what happened to Ed's wagon...
Post by: cajerridoc on December 04, 2008, 09:31:55 AM
Here it is now with South Oz rego!

I had to change a few things to get it through the rego check but it got through 1st time which is a testament to the good work Ed did in building it.

The ride height was lifted and the exhaust modified at the rear.

The klaxon horn was replaced with air horns although the inspector told me I could but it back but not as the primary horn.

The louvers are out (not because I had to) and the small amount of cancer was removed from under the radiator.

The heights may still need some adjusting.

We also had to provide more space in the rear wells as the tyres were scrubbing.

I even managed a interesting number plate for now, S057 AAH or as my friend Ian said

'So 57 aaaahh'.

But most important is the SA club sticker.

Robin,

Those front springs look a bit Subaru Forrestor, well done on the rego.
 :)

Hope you get lots of happy motoring miles from her.

Cheers

Yes the main thing was to get rego and then refine them later. The other set of springs we tried looked more Toyota Hilux and they could barely close the wishbones.

Ed - why did you change the bumpers? And why did you not chrome the ones you did use?

Just curious....

Just my guess, but I'd say Ed wanted to continue the mild/not so mild custom theme, Paul.

Paul,

The bumpers were welded into one piece items and painted.  I couldn't justify or afford the cost of chrome for 2 bars. As Rabbitoh mentioned the theme of the car was taken into consideration.

I've never done it myself, but I understand it is extremely difficult to get a perfect, lasting chrome finish on bumper sections that have been welded together. The bumper metal and the weld must react to the chrome differently I guess.

Good to see it's registered, Robin. Now you can enjoy it.

cheers
