Title: FC found under house.
Post by: oldgmh on August 28, 2008, 09:21:01 AM
A young friend has been on the lookout for an FC for quite a while - being an apprentice he hasnt got many spare dollars.   :(
His persistance paid off, yesterday we picked up a 78,000 mile, one owner, FC sedan from under a house in Nundah, Brisbane.  ;D
The car was purchased new on 30 June 1958 and has always lived at the same address.  :o :o

this is where the car lived.

When first inspected the FC was thickly covered with years of dust - the owners son wiped it down before i could get a pic.

Still has the cross ply tyres

there is a bit of rust in the sills but none in the floor pans.

the front brakes were seized on so it was a winch job to get it on the trailer.

seats had been protected by seatcovers

we were pleased to find the seats squabs were not ripped, torn or sagged.

It is the original single colour but has been repainted some time ago.
Has a locking fuel cap, sunvisor, weathershield, 2 front seat belts and an FB bonnet bird.
No radio and it still has the rubber mats. :o ;D ;D

We are happy.

Well done on digging out another neat one owner... as Ken says, they are still out there waiting to be found.

Ken, I reckon the rear plate has been placed over the top of the front plate for the picture.  That would have been original Qld rego no. too, I reckon.

 :o :o

Great find Earlee, the young fella would have to be happy with that, what about some more pics, is he going to join the club?

Singletone cars arn't that common either.

Wow, that is definately an excellent find Earlee, you guys must be over the moon with this one.
What has your freind have in mind for the car. Is the car going to be restored, modified, or left as is?.

Congrats on the find,
                            Dean.

G'day all.

yes Josh is very happy to have found such a good car and yes, the 2 number plates were just sitting on the front bar when the pic was taken.

It hadn't been driven since the rego ran out in 2003 so we gave it a battery - checked the fluids - all was well - pulled off the coil lead - cranked it over until the oil pressure light went out - put the coil lead back on again - pulled the choke out - she spurted into life !   :o :o

Still had half a tank of fuel - she roared into life like a lion - purred like a kitten when idling - the clutch is as smooth as silk - the brake pedal is as solid as a rock  :'(

Ken - will get some numbers soon.

Doosee - yeh josh was lucky!  :o :o

Thanks Earlee, are you sure chassis number is right? the car is a 1958 model and I would have expected the chassis number to be about FC 1245 B with such a low body number.

ken -

i triple checked the chassis number and it is FC11245B.

that side of the car appears to have been repainted many years ago - maybe it has been replaced and the inner guard panel from a donor wrecked FC?
