This generally happens when the venetian isn't tight. Make sure the mounts are tight, ie tighten the bottom screw adjusters so that the tabs under the upper window rubber are very firm and make sure that the tabs are snug against the glass. If you tug at the uprights the whole venetian should be very snug.

If thats all ok, make sure that the slats are all straight and not sprung. If its all tight there should be nothing for anything to rattle against.

Hope this helps

Cheers
John

The other thing to check is that the venetian is completely centred. If it's mounted slightly to one side or the other, the edges of the slats can vibrate against the glass in a most annoying way ;)

If you can get someone in the back seat to identify what part of the venetian is rattling it will make it a lot easier to figure out how to fix it.

cheers

Duds ,I owned an F e in the early 60s and the venetians rattled in it ,I remember trying lots of remedys then but nothing really worked ,I now have an FC, and you guessed it, the venetians rattle in it !Think it is part of having venetians!   Cheers   Steve  :)

I agree with Steve, I'm sure mine just rattle to "annoy" me, then miraculously they'll stop, only to start again another day! I just focus on the purr off the big block FE series motor and take any venetian rattles as part of the car's charm together with the squeaking clutch pedal.  Cruisin' just wouldn't be the same for me without those little sounds!  ;D

Similar story here, although the unit I have in the business sedan was remedied by pieces of chopped up flip flops & a wire rod inserted each end through a series of holes drilled through the slats  ::)

Must have been driving the elderley owner crazy to have gone to that degree.

If you have an out of balance tailshaft it may result in vibrations also.

Did find a squash ball that's late 1950's?  Cos otherwise it's not good for originality!  :D

Duds,

Another reason for the rattling is the hardness of the old window rubber, as it will not hold the venetian in tight enough.
I have had to resort to wrapping all metal ends with thin soft rubber (plastic or foam) glued to both sides of the metal.
Body flex in my 1956 car was/is also causing 'squeaks' as a go in and out of my driveway etc. (and this is over and above the normal rattles)
