Reckon this is the one you were talking about. Title: Re: Prices still going up Post by: mikey on May 14, 2008, 03:07:36 PM Title: Re: Prices still going up Post by: Ed on May 14, 2008, 03:10:24 PM The prices listed are quite fair given the amount of work involved in a V8 conversion.
I looked at them earlier and thought it was cheap. To build one to that stage for less money is very difficult. Title: Re: Prices still going up Post by: mikey on May 14, 2008, 04:22:33 PM That is a real good look not going out through the guard and is something that I can't stop thinking about.
I recently read a post here (apologies I don't recall your name) they had the same hangups about chopping into the guard and did say they had a set of extractors made up on the car that did not go through the inner guard. Did cost around $800-$900 if I remember correctly. :o Main thing is that it is possible. Cheers M Title: Re: Prices still going up Post by: FC427 on May 14, 2008, 04:45:20 PM Does any one know the owner so we can find out what car the exhaust manifolds are off ????? is he in the VIC club .........FC427.......
Title: Re: Prices still going up Post by: mikey on May 14, 2008, 05:03:36 PM Just had a look on ebay again and saw this silver and black FC. Have a look at the extractors running out through the inner guard and compare it to the one with cast headers. Quite a substantial difference between the two of them.

The exhaust fitter said it was the easiest he had done because i had thought about how to make room prior to positioning the mounts.. When fitting these or chev motors position the engine mounts as far forward as possible. This the gives plenty of room to run the exhaust to the rear allowing easy manufacture and fitting by the exhaust fitter. And no these were not small diameter pipes.

It's not as easy as buying a kit but it can be done with a little forethought! These things had already been considered and planned by us ready for a future project. ;D Kathi 8) |
