That first pic is really nostalgic, it shows how primative things used to be, could've been any small auto business or wreckers in south east QLD, a lot of them still looked the same right up to the late seventies 8).

1960 country Victoria.

This car would have been a government vehicle as it has a Commonwealth number plate.

You'd be hard pressed to find a service station attendant these days, let alone one wearing a bowtie. :D

Shayne,

That Alexandria photo shows an FC with rego BZA-538 or something like that (the numbers aren't real clear).

My Dad's FC is India Ivory over Royal Marine in the same scheme as that, rego BZA-163. They could be from the same litter ;)

I love the billboard in the background, too. Carbon control means something quite different these days.

cheers

Sounds pretty close, RET.

I always try to see the number plates as well.  I've even managed to find some pics of number plates I have in my collection.

I noticed the Carbon control advert.  As you say, different meaning now.

Remember when you had to have a licence to have a television? ???

Here is an August 1959 pic taken in Sydney of some investigation officers getting into an FE on the way to seek out unlicenced TV sets.  The number plate is a Commonwealth plate with a red C and black numbers.  It appears they were on a budget and could only get a business or standard model.

Apologies for the quality of the picture, but I think it is worth showing the unusual paint scheme on this car.  Circa 1963 in New South Wales.  I've never seen the paint scheme come around under the boot lid like this. :o

I don't know what used to happen at the Pillage Squad in Circular Quay, but this is the entrance, and the goings on seem to attract FE/FC Holden Drivers ;)
