This car would have been a government vehicle as it has a Commonwealth number plate. That Alexandria photo shows an FC with rego BZA-538 or something like that (the numbers aren't real clear). My Dad's FC is India Ivory over Royal Marine in the same scheme as that, rego BZA-163. They could be from the same litter ;) I love the billboard in the background, too. I always try to see the number plates as well. I've even managed to find some pics of number plates I have in my collection. I noticed the Carbon control advert. As you say, different meaning now. Here is an August 1959 pic taken in Sydney of some investigation officers getting into an FE on the way to seek out unlicenced TV sets. The number plate is a Commonwealth plate with a red C and black numbers. It appears they were on a budget and could only get a business or standard model. Circa 1963 in New South Wales. I've never seen the paint scheme come around under the boot lid like this. :o
