Title: Help me find chassis number!
Post by: ekute on December 13, 2007, 10:25:40 PM
I gather this has been asked before but where am I likely to find the chassis number on my FE?

The rest of the numbers are

FE 225 1222S

Trim 157 469 AO

Paint 253 7471

Engine starts with a B so it ain't original.

Regards Mark

Chassis number ,as in body number (on my FC at least) is on drivers side, inner guard (In engine bay,1st step down) and was not overly visible.Cheers,Jamie.

Not on early FEs Jamie, particularly Sydney ones. On these, as FC 427 says, it's on the skirt directly above the battery , sometimes right on the bend itself. the stamping is small and rough on the early cars, often really difficult to read.

Cheers
John

Thanks for the help FC427 and Johns , what I thought was a few rust spots was the chassis number after a bit of sanding. It is 6 2806 S. So that makes it 1,806th FE manufactured in Sydney in 1956.

i went through this a while back, they're a pain in the arse to find on FE's mine was on the left side up near the bonnet hinge
at the time i was told could be anywhere on the left inner guard and usually very small and hard to read
but you've found yors now so this may help someone else somewhere down the track
