Title: JOD34N's new FC's
Post by: DN2168 on September 14, 2007, 10:55:51 PM
I have just bought a couple of FC's, so here is some pics. They were kept under a house under a car cover. The darker one is a Fred Flintstone style car so a few replacement panels will be required for it but the lighter one appears to be fairly rust free.

The darker one was a factory black car & I was wondering if it is rare or not. When I get them home I will put up some more pictures.

Dean,

They are very nice. That Stack badge is in pretty good nick as well and getting quite rare. The number plates look pretty good as well. Are they the original plates, and do you have both front and rear plates. They would look good on the car once registered. Very nice buy.Good luck with what ever you do with them.

Cheers Rusty

Great pictures and good looking cars. Well done!
Can you write the ID plate details for the 1st car - very hard to read.

Also do you have the chassis numbers for the 2 cars?

Black FC specials are not all that rare - I have 16 recorded, yours is the 17th. They were used as company cars for both government departments and large corporations, so were very common in the day. However the nature of a company car is that is is generally a neglected vehicle after it finishes its official use.

Thanks for that info Ken, you were right the black one has been neglected, not sure what to do with it yet as it will require a fair amount of work. Could work out to be a nice family project as the wife isn't afraid of getting her hands dirty. I will post some more detailed pics when I get home from Fiji & get the cars to my place.

Cheers, Dean.

Well I finally pick the 2 cars up tomorrow  ;D. This must have been the worlds longest motor vehicle transaction in history. Have been waiting for a month for the rear-ends to be put back into the cars so that I could go get them >:(. recieved the phone call yesterday that they were right to go  ;D. Will post some more pics when I get the pair home.

Dean.

Nice car

Very, very nice trailer.

Nice old girl.

I don't suppose it was all that hard towing with all that lightening material installed in the old girl (rust) ;)

Cheers   M

Geez Dean,

You have certainly given yourself something to get your teeth into, ;) I look forward to watching the progress.

Good luck with negotiating with the Minister for War and Peace  ;) I hope that your carport doesn't take too long to clean out :D

Mikey the trailer is the brother-in-laws...all aluminium & nice to tow.

Effcee, half the carport cleaned= half a trailer for the tip, don't know why I collected some of the crap. It's been very cleansing for the soul  ;D.

Dean.

G'day Dean, great find mate but next time you feel like cleansing the soul- try a bottle of scotch. You might get a head- ache, but theres nothing better than sitting down thinking of the things your going to do to the old girl while knocking down a scotch ::) ::)

Dean,

What are your plans for the cars.? Are you going to restore them, modify them, what can we expect to see over the coming months?

Title: Re: JOD34N's new FC's
Post by: DN2168 on May 07, 2008, 09:06:51 PM
Hello Keith, my plans for the cars is red motor conversion, HR front end, red & white paint as per my avatar but not quite decided on wheels yet.

Very familiar pics of the black FC (Rust pics that is).Same plate details apart from the obvious build number and location.Single tone Black and Fall red and Black interior.Hey Ken,have you got mine on your file too?Good luck with the projects Dean,I work on the theory that nothing is really impossible to repair (with some exceptions).

Post by: mcl1959 on May 12, 2008, 10:01:43 PM
Jamie- maybe I don't have your details - can you post or send me a pm?
These are the black cars I have from Sydney
They certainly seem to have a pattern in build date - probably consistent with government department order patterns

2494-S  2560-S  4265-S
10491-S
19211-S  22263-S  26276-S  26898-S  27206-S
30257-S  30580-S  31756-S

I could spend a few hours here doing more research to try and find various build dates that match these body numbers.  Another interesting thing is that Sydney seems to have built the vast majority of Black cars - I only have 4 Melbourne built cars on record. This is also probably consistent with federal government being in ACT so cars would have been sourced from Sydney plant.
Any chance of finding the chassis numbers from the 2 cars that you now have Dean?

Ken

Yep, having trouble reading the numbers on one Ken & the other has a brake booster mounted on top of them. Will get them asap as I would like to know myself.

Title: Re: JOD34N's new FC's
Post by: DN2168 on September 15, 2008, 09:54:04 PM
Hey Hukuna,

Guess what......the FC you stripped is going to be the first one that gets the treatment. The main reasons are that it is sitting under the carport at the moment so when the rain blows in it is getting wet. Other reason is if I do this one I can get the trim ect off the really rusty car & that will get rid of that one as well.

I'll kep you posted  ;).

Dean.

Hey Dean - don't worry, my program didn't work too well for some of the participants!  ;)

Sometimes other priorities just have to take priority!  :D

As long as you are still keen, the time will come when you might just surprise yourself with what you can achieve.   :)

Now - pull your finger out and do something!  Even if it's only prepping your area ready for you to start work or, worse still, start writing up that dreaded "list"!   :D

With Orange now less than 12 months away I can see Kathi's Henchmen beginning to stir....

Kathi's very good at motivating people, I am sure that she would be happy to include you an her list of people that need  motivating.  Me, I just need a good rocket from time to time and Kathi is only to happy to oblige.  ;)

OK, Here is number 4

The last pics show the trailer load of extras that I also precured with the shell.
Included was 2 grey motors with gearboxes, a new set of floorpans, a diff, 2 front ends, a set of velour covered seats, 2 front & rear windscreens plus a heap of trim bits.

This shell has had most of the panel work already done on it, so I am hoping it won't need much work before paint.

Cheers,
          Dean.

Hi Pedro,
No.4 is booked into the panel beaters in about a months time. The painter is happy with the body & said it should only need a few minor fixes before it is ready for paint. Oh happy days.

Cheers,

Great score with a body that is only going to need a few minor tweaks before it is ready for paint. That is certainly going to save you a lot of hard work. Good luck with it
