Title: Steering lock
Post by: TTV6FC on August 15, 2007, 07:26:20 PM
Can anyone tell me what brand of steering lock this is?It was on my grey FC when I bought it and I can't seem to find any writing on it at all.I assume several different companies made these.Curious to know if anyone has one the same or has info about this one.Cheers,Jamie.

...and what's the easiest way to get it off?Drilling out the rivets is the only way I can see.Cheers,Jamie.

The 2 halves of the lock are held together by shear bolts, so yes, drill down the centre but not with too large a diameter bit as the bolt holes have a counter sunk edge.

Drill down and then try an easy out - I have got them out this way before and it is very easy to wreck the lock because the body is only aluminium and the drill cuts it up real quick

Thanks again for the info, any idea what diameter the shafts are on the shear screws? Thanks Just40,but I'm in S.A and I reckon it would be cheaper (only just)to buy one of these off ebay with a key than to get to the locksmith at Morningside to make me a new one (no disrespect intended). ;D
