Has anyone here on the forum come across a "STACK" badge on an FC before. I had a look at a couple of sedans under a guys house the other day & saw one one the bootlid just above the lock. Any info would be appreciated.

Yes Stack's was a Sydney dealership and they had a habit of attaching their dealership badge to the car - usually on the bootlid. Campbells Motors and Preston Motors in Victoria also had a metal badge that they attached to the car, but usually inside the cabin, not outside. Most other dealerships only used a water soak decal on the glovebox lid along with the obligatory rear window decal.
Other promo ideas were number plate surrounds - Rhodes motors in Vic had a very decorative cast aluminium number plate surround to promote their dealership and Queens Bridge Motors in Vic had a nice number plate surround with "QBM" on it. Also other dealerships spray painted there dealership name and phone number under the bonnet - "Motors" in Tasmania are one who did this.
The Stack's badges are unique as far as I know because they are the only ones attached on the outside of the car and are fairly rare, but certainly not a one off - I've probably seen between 6 to 10 of them on cars but unfortunately don't have a photo. I'm sure a pic has appeared on the forum at one stage but I couldn't find it after a bit of a search.
I'm sure others can come up with examples and maybe some pics.

Thanks Ken, I have one of those QBM number plate frames, & 2 different Stack badges, often wondered what the QBM stood for, it is a fairly heavy guage stainless steel frame too.
If any one wants to see a pic I can email it, maybe someone will put it up on the site.

The Stack Badge below the boot lid on my FJ is similar but has red paint, not black.

I have a couple of different types at home as well. They should all have a red enamelled insert, maybe it's just the light in the picture making it look black. The earlier ones read "By STACK" and are of a totally different style. Some don't have the red underlined section. There are also repro's, of which I have one.

Does anyone have the STACK parts department Christmas drink tumbler's? They bought them out every year, the year printed on them and a different colour each year. It had printed on them "Merry Christmas from STACK spare parts department 1963" or 64, 65 etc. I knew a bloke who had successive years 1960 - 1967, I must get back in contact with him.

I am quite a fan of early Holden Dealership material.

Now those Stack Christmas tumblers are cool, with an FC replacing reindeers as Santa's prefered method for towing the sleigh. Here is the pic of 1 I have from 1963. Bit hard to photograph with flash though.

I was once bidding on one of those Stack badges on ebay (and winning) when ebay shut the guys down for some reason.... maybe next time ;)
