Title: ENGINE BAY COLOURS
Post by: mickusmickus on June 19, 2007, 03:07:39 AM
Hey all,

Im 100% sure this topic would have been covered before however searches have produced nothing.

Looking to repaint my engine bay and am dead set on keeping it as original as possible.  Judging by the colours I am seeing on my car at the moment the main colour is body colour with black on the grill support, behind the grill and where the bonnet latch is.......\

That said In my manual there are pictures showing the sides painted black.....Im sure this will be an easy answer for some of us, ur help would be much appreciated.

If the colours on your car appear to be original, then as you describe them sounds reasonable. Unfortunately, over the FE/FC model runs, different factories painted the firewall and inner skirt areas either body colour or black. There doesn't seem to be any definitive pattern to it, so it's pretty much impossible to say with authority what any specific car would have been.

For what it's worth though, the bonnet catch plate is always black.

cheers

Cheers RET catch plate black CHECK! hahahaha

Car seems to have the engine bay mostly body colour so I think Ill run with that........although black would be much easier to keep clean.......thanks for the input!
