I think some people call them that because if you need to use them then that's who you should be praying to.

we always called them "shit handles" becuase you say "shit" when you hold them

The parts book describes them as "Assist Grip Strap Assembly" - part number 7411379 & 7411380.

The FC sales brochure lists them as "Assist Straps with Coat Hooks over rear doors".

Hope this clears everything up
