Neither.  Wouldn't that block all water into (or out of) the radiator? :o

The tap is usually fitted to the water pump.

cheers

As far as I am aware there is only one heater hose outlet on a red motor water pump and it exits from the top just behind where the radiator hose attaches. On a new water pump it is usually blocked and you have to drill through to make it operational.  There are 2 outlets just above this in the thermostat housing which are for the manifold heater - are you getting confused with these two?
