Post by: Rusty_T on March 10, 2007, 11:37:29 PM
 ??? ???

Hi all,
This is new to me.My first attempt to post pics of my(Our) automobiles. The wagon is in the almost final throws of "finish" and the sedan is my daily driver. So here goes and I do hope it works.

Cheers Rusty and Rosalyn(http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u98/Rusty_T_bucket/Mywagon.jpg)

Thanks guys.

Gary the wagon is going well.I have to get the engine rebuilt , replace the lower ball joints as the ones that I replaced fell out. Have to put in o/size. The picture of the wagon was taken out the side of my place just prior to doing some grass cutting with it.The grass has grown back now. Hopefully it should debut at this years Xmas party (Fingers Crossed)

Hi all

Well, the time has come to Paint (Your) The Wagon so last Thursday week I loaded it onto a trailor and took it to Austec Plastic Blasters (via Alfio's as he knew where to go) near Liverpool somewhere, and when they were finished it,Thursday just gone, it was delivered to Alfio's where he can perform his magic. I went across to Alfio's Restorations on Friday to view the end result of the blast it copped and was surprised at the very very little rust in the car.Mainly on the drivers side gutter.'mazing. Time now to try and put some pics up.Not very lucky at this.

looks like you were lucky with the rust, how much did the blasting cost?

Title: Re: Rusty's Cars
Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on July 28, 2007, 07:54:48 PM
Why didn't they blast the door frames  ??? Usually you see it the other way around with large panels left with paint and all the fiddly bits blasted.

Wow super clean body.
That will make a good base to start with.

Leon,

The Blasting cost me $2000. They do a very good job.I was luck enough to have a look at some of there work prior to leaving my car.The jobs I looked at were as clean as clean can be.

Stinky,
The reason it wasn't done around the door jams is that all the inside is still in original paint.I've touched up some areas but the rest was polished by me with a cutting compound , plenty of elbow grease and finally with a good dose of "Mothers"and the bits I missed ,Alfio will get.
Cheers Rusty

Alex,

Yes ,it is almost the perfect start point. The rust was very minor and I for one am very happy with it.There are still some minor dings in it but I'm sure Alfio will knock'm out.

As I get more photos I'll put them up.I need the practice.

Cheers Rusty

Hi folks,

I thought it time to put a couple more progress shots of the wagon up.Just to keep you interested. At the moment things are at a standstill as I'm waiting for the wire loom to arrive from Melbourne. Can't put the roof liner in as the wire to the rear runs over the top on the drivers side. Can't put the windows in before the hood liner as it tucks up under the front screen rubber. On a lighter note, I picked the Motor up yesterday and spent all afternoon putting it together. So now it's ready to go in.Here's the pics.

Hi all,
I did a bit more on the wagon today, installed the cargo comp windows.A little hesitant to start with but got braver as we progressed. It's the second time I have ever put windows into a car ( The first was a mini and only the windscreen.) That stringy thingy makes it easier as did the spray of H2O. I was a bit worried that I might be to heavy handed and break some glass. Now I have somewhere to put the club sticker that I've been carrying around in my Almanac(ie). Here's some pics.(http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u98/Rusty_T_bucket/100_3270.jpg) (http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u98/Rusty_T_bucket/100_3269.jpg)(http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u98/Rusty_T_bucket/100_3272.jpg)

Hi all,

The car has been passed by the engineer( HR brakes and cross member, Seatbelts, Rims and tyres 14" etc), however, another hurdle has raised its ugly head. It seems the RTA has a new online program to be done by the engineers but the one I'm using can't access it. Nor can the other 5 in the Penrith area. The car was going to be blue slipped tomorrow and registered as well. Here's hopping.

Cheers Rusty

Excellent work Rusty, you must be pleased.

When I rego'd mine, I had to bring the engineers report reference number to the blue slip guy too.

should all be Ok, the RTA loves putting these nicely built cars back on the road.
