Title: Speed Post by: Johns on March 01, 2007, 12:15:49 AM I just received the current copy of Wheels magazine and was interested to note that a Bugatti Veyron can accelerate to 300 kph in 18.2 seconds, 10.7% less time than my FE takes to get to 100...
It gets to 200kph in 7.4 seconds and maxs at 402 kph. They cost £800,000 (if you can get one), but actually cost VW £5,000,000 to build. They're losing a fortune on every one, but they built it to prove it could be done: the supercar to end all supercars. W16 engine (two V8s bolted together). Plenty of 'facts & figures' on the machine. The one I remember most (and hopefully correctly) was that from a standing start, the Bugatti Veyron could give a McLaren (previously the world's fastest production car) a 120mph head start, and the Bugatti would be first to 200mph! Pretty respectable acceleration. Jeremy did say in the show that you needed to see about a mile up the road before putting your foot down, because you would be there pretty quickly!
