Gday Steve,

I reckon your 'J' prefix engine would be out of an EJ.

To the best of my knowledge, the engine numbers (for Holden Grey Motors) are as follows:

- No Prefix Letter 1001 (first engine in a 48-215) up to about 280 000 were originally fitted to FX-FJ.

- 'U' Prefix engines were fitted to FJ utes & vans after FE was released.

- 'L' Prefix engines were originally fitted to FE/FC

- 'B' Prefix engines were in FB/EK,

and as I said earlier, 'J' for EJ.

If I've made a mistake or omission, I'm sure someone will correct me.

regards,
Shayne.
