Title: Where to buy paint?
Post by: tmudie on December 14, 2006, 03:23:22 AM
Hi all

My brother is going to paint a couple of panels for my FC, sun visor and wheel spats. I gave him the paint codes, so far he's been to a couple of paint shops and they havent been able to help. Can anyone recommend where he should try? he lives up at Lake McQuarie, so somewhere in the Newcastle area would be good, otherwise I'll source in sydney. Thanks

Tony

Hi Tony,

You can try here http://www.autowest.com.au/

UNIT 9, 61 REGENTVILLE ROAD
PENRITH NSW 2750

FAX: 02 4721 3303

Ask for Brett, he is excellent and will mix/match paint to samples on the spot.

Cheers,

Craig.

Many paint outlets don't have the old books any more.  You can ring Dulux-PPG's Technical Service number, they can recommend a two-pack or acrylic replacement for the original colour code.

But, if you're just going to paint bits and pieces of the car and not all of it, there might be something to be said for getting the paint colour-matched.  You don't really want to have the spats and visor noticeably different shades to the rest of the car.

i used to use newcastle auto abrasives at  boolooroo but i dont know if they will have info on a paint code that old.
they deal with cheaper brands but its what my car was painted with and still looked nice and shinny
