Are Grey motor camshafts marked in any way to distinguish what grind they are?
If not why not
is there any way to tell?
If they are, where to look
Thanks, Gary

Hi Gary,
I know Wade Cams stamp the end face (gear end) of the shaft with a number representing their grind profile e.g. 104.

Bert Jones, Ken Wagott and Arther Johnston also put the master number on either the front or rear of the cam if you measure the lift at either lifter or pushrod with a dial indicator and check it against a standard one you will soon know if it is not standard but to find duration , valve opening and closing ,lobe separation etc you would have to use a degree wheel and then the problem would be to know valve lash usually easier to buy a cam with all the specifications .......FC427.....

Thanks for the info, I have a couple of camshafts that I was told were this, that or the other, when I get a chance I'll have a closer look.
So if I have an unmarked one it's either standard or the shop who did the work on it didn't bother to mark their work
