Hi All,
boot lid has no tension, also has only one spring on the right hand side, left side has no spring. Is it possible to sight if the spring is broken, or do you assume that the spring is broken because of no tension ? Was working and would hold the boot up with one only. I didn't hear anything break when stopped working. Does the lid need to come off to fix it ? Read somewhere there were after market springs etc.
regards

Ret on here does a boot spring tensioner kit thet reqires drilling 1 hole each side
Not sure if it will work on your 1 good spring
I think the same or slightly wider springs were used on FB EK models these will fit with a little filing you can fit these items without removing the lid

A boot lid that holds with only one spring fitted is one that has a spring that won't last long.
The adjustable boot pins just require the original fixed pin be removed. Generally this can be levered out with no drilling required. Their main benefit (apart from being your only option if the original pin is broken) is that they don't require the special tool shown in the workshop manual to fit, and you're more likely to finish the job with the same number of fingers you started with.
As far as springs are concerned, they're not unobtanium. The 3/4" ones are a lot stronger than the earlier 1/2" ones. If the saddles in the boot hinges of your car are designed for the earlier ones, you can relieve a little slot in the spring where it folds over so it will fit on the saddle, or flatten the saddle a bit. A properly fitted spring is never going to jump out of the saddle anyway.
Hope that helps,
