Does anyone know if there was ever a rubber gasket or mould around the FC grill that protects the paint on the guards where the components mount together?

Regards

I think there was a thin rubber between the guards & the grill frame but the chrome on the grill extends past where they meet & usually thats what chips the paint as the edge of the guards sit behind the chrome edge.
