Hello all, has anyone got some straight cuts for a grey they want to sell. I am doing up a hot grey and want it to make a bit of noise.

What about Diecrest Engineering?
Worth a try I guess, they make(made?) straight cuts for Red motors.

never knew diecrest did that kind of stuff, thats the address and name of the ebay seller i got my thermo fans from @ about $27 each.
when they say specail order does that mean they want a few orders in to get them done?, should i put straight cuts in the grey in my cabin cruiser?

i have made some enquires, this is a definately a no goer.  I have heard that a steel set is the go for the old grey and thats what I think i will get as mine has the shitty fibre one and im not driving to Mt Gambier and stripping it, cheers Angry Angry Angry Angry Tongue Tongue

There's nothing really wrong with fibre ones in general, as long as they're kept lubricated.  If the oiler to them gets clogged up (often the case in a car that has sat for a long time), they get brittle and collapse.

Note also that it's a designed weak-point, because it's a lot easier to replace than a lot of other engine internals. It can be replaced without pulling the engine out.

Having said all that, if you've souped up the engine a bit - cam, double valve springs and the like - you'll be putting more stress on the timing gear than they were really designed for, so a steel one is probably a good idea.

maybe fibre timing gears are ok, but after striping two within six weeks on the F3 freeway i personally am too scared to get on the freeway again with fibre gears.

Mine has the cam and valve springs etsc etc, no bloody fibre for me.....!!!!!!!!! Grin Grin
