Yeah, I'd have screwed you over big time. Grin

Oops, shouldn't have said that until I get my grey motor bits.

Hi all,
Firstly I like to say that "hey, it was great to see most of the cars here on the the coast".
I missed most of you on the Saturday, as you were all leaving. (I got there extremely late, DON'T ask).
I met Phil and a couple of others anyway.

I dragged my missus out of the house on Sunday to see the show'n'shine at Curumbin but Murphy's law prevailed and it rained. (Bloody typical)

Lastly, I offered the use of my yard and house to anyone who needed it and included my phone number etc.
I now find out that someone (Efee-C?) shit itself and needed $1400 worth of repairs.
Well I would have loved to help you but as that old Telstra ad stated "Why didn't ya call"
I'd have helped you gratis.
Goodluck and good riddance.
(In case you're wondering, yes Steve is 9/10 pissed whilst writing this.)  Tongue

Sorry to hear of your problem, but MATE I feel mis-used.
We COODA piched parts of the FE to get you home and replaced them rather than pay BIG bucks NOWWWWW.

Sirry ,10/10 pissed but wouda helped you.

I think the old bastrad has already had too much to drink, but I'll write down all he has to tell and post it as I go.
Maybe, if he has enough good stuff to tell, I can be like Slim and have my own section. Haha Just teasin' ya Slim.
(refer some other post re Slim's separate for sale section, in case you were wondering what I'm gibbering about) Tongue

Thanks John M,
Much appreciated.
BTW, I have heard that Rare Spares has been taken into receivership. Nobody has confirmed that yet.

8  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Siezed Speedo on: April 17, 2003, 09:02:55 AM
I'm on the goldcoast.
Is the speedo seized or is the cable binding.
As in did you just remove the cable end from the gearbox and try turning it. Did you remove the speedo from the dash. ETC ETC ETC.

Mate, I'm not an instrument engineer but I have successfully repaired many instruments and gauges.

I'll have a look at it for you if you want.

Haha,
Good one Jim.

Mate I was born as raised as a Mexican.
Moved here in the early eighties, had kids, moved back home and then moved back here about 2 years ago.

If Vic had the climate (and not the friggin cold) I'd be back there tomorrow.

Man, I miss my Flyfishing.

10  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Headlining/Interior/Windlacing on: April 16, 2003, 10:44:54 AM
Maybe I should be in the repro area, but does anyone know if the orignal materials are available.
The headlining in the FE is absolutely perfect and beautiful. It's sort of embossed material.
The seats are also immaculate except for the tops that were exposed to the sun during it's driven life. (Cracked and brittle. Well actually just brittle until I touched it and now it's cracked)  Angry

The windlace is supposedly the same as the early Chevs. Fat and round with a sort of broken stripe thoughout.

The color is a red but I don't rememebr the code right now.

How'd you all go with yours or did you just customise?

Thanks, Steve
11  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: 4 speed colum on: April 16, 2003, 10:36:27 AM
Why couldn't you use the existing 3onthetree, and a separate lever for reverse.
First would be where reverse was, etc.
Not difficult. Surely.
Email me and we'll discuss this properly.
I'll even get off me ar2e and have a go at it for you.
You've got me intrigued enough to do it.
Steve
12  General / General Board / Re: Slim's Personal Trading Post on: April 16, 2003, 10:28:55 AM
I agree with Slim.
I just looked at the pages with the blown HQ and I'm not sure which one of those badass looking b@stards he was but either way, I wouldn't trust him.  Grin

Mind you, if he has his own section on the site, then I wouldn't have to go there, hey!

I'll take this opportunity to say.
Mate, that Q is one tough looking mutha. Always wanted to supercharge a motor.

if ever you need parts for her, maybe we can do a deal on some FE gear. Wink
13  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Engine bay paint codes on: April 16, 2003, 09:33:17 AM
I'm just going to use GMH black.
It's a satin black that I use for everything.
You could also call it "RECO black" coz everything that's supposedly reconditioned turns up in this colour.
Reco my arse. All these scumbags do is paint it.
14  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: Grill bars wanted on: April 16, 2003, 08:29:00 AM
I've got a spare FE grille.
I'm assuming that they are simila ???r if not the same.
15  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: BENCH SEAT ENDS. on: April 16, 2003, 08:17:22 AM
Harrisons?HuhHuh??
Are they the dudes near the Adult XXX shop and the Funeral directors in Brissie. (Hey they both handle stiffs OK)

There's also a tattoo joint next door if it's the place I'm thinking of.

Mate, I've heard nothing but bad reports here about them.
I'm not trying to start a p!ssing match about them but I'm a bit wary on what I've heard.

On a lighter note, the FE seats are almost perfect but the plastics are shagged.
I'd like to see the finished article without them.
Thanks, Steve

19  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Grey Motor running Temperture on: April 15, 2003, 08:57:29 AM
As per the other replies, its definitely in F not C. (celsius)

An old mech was visiting the other day and he saw the grey motor getting done up by me.
Some of the mods that they used to do were quite interesting. I'll invite him over foranother beer soon and get more details but one of the problems they had with hot grey motors was overheating.
A simple mod was to drill and tap the cylinder head on the manifold side (there's a cuppla flat spots on the head perfect for drilling) and run a pipe to the radiator.
No more hot heads.

Interesting old bugger, but he never brings a stubby with him. Roll Eyes
