I used to have one in the HX and I ran it inbetween the carpet and the sound deadener underlay - never had a problem except directly under tram lines in the city

for those considering mounting in the glove box, 19mm timber fits into the gove box lower support like a glove and you just need a screw to hold it in place as security.  from there just make up a mounting platform for the radio.

If you are going to mount behind the speaker grill, if you hindge at the bottom ensure you have a strong clasp so it doesn't keep falling open as you drive along.  I have been tring to find some small gas struts that you can use for holding the grill open (or shut I spose if you do hindge from the bottom) but no luck as yet.

As a rule, I direct wire the power from the battery via a dash board switch.  I find that way I can turn it off easily when needed (ie hear sirens, phone rings etc) and you just wait until the next set of lights if you cannot reach the unit to change CD's or stations.

Hope he managed to get it under cover as it has been snowing in Parkes (yes that's right snowing - even though they haven't had rain in years)

RET

There was a thread started many moons ago detailing all the different colors and how many teeth they had and how to work out what one to use depending on your set up (tyres, gear box and diff).  How ever, bugger if I can find it.  I even looked in the tech section.  Closest I came was

http://www.fefcholden.org.au/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=howto;action=display;num=1089123589;start=12

and

http://www.fefcholden.org.au/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=hotup;action=display;num=1027515452;start=

I'll check the acticles folders at home in case it was in there rather than here.

Theo

here's the link the the vic club's application form.

http://www.fefcholden.org.au/vic/newmemberfefc.htm
The price look like they are the old ones - I beleive everything is $5 more a year than quoted on the form.

You are entitled to the associate member due to your distance from Melb.

Torque

That was a wooden spoon and porriage bowl (three on tree) hr gear box. (I believe as not my car in pic)  You do not need to mod the hump to stick one of those in (I believe).  The aussie four speed is a total different matter.  See Alex's post on his mods when he slipped a aussie four into Rock'n'Roll

http://www.fefcholden.org.au/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=hotup;action=display;num=1022339013

The bracket is based of the standard FC one.  I think that one in the pic was a CRS made backet.  Mine was made by some butcher who cut some bits out of an FC one and I added some steel when I got it for strength.
Have yet to get around to making a proper one.  Will wait to cross that bridge when I drop my aussie 4 in.

Went to the Barris site IHADAV8 posted and bought a couple of his books for myself for upcoming birthday & father’s day.  They arrived yesterday and managed a quick peek at the flamed book before they were confiscated until I was "officially" given them.

Let me just say WOW.  some of the kustomizing in there was fantastic.  If you like wild then get yourself a copy of these to read.

take a look at the second last post on this topic - it gives you a good idea of what you need for a three of the tree - beleive an aussie 4 is pretty much the same (it better be or you will hear the swearing from your place in a couple of months when I try mine)

Try this guy - Keycom at info@keycom.com.au  His name is Brad.

He may be able to make one up for you as he is a whiz at old 2way radio parts.

Sarge

If you are talking the CAD stuff.  It was based of my drawings based off alex's post.  I always planned to draw up the rods needed, but I then my wife started to swell and along came my little boy (child number two).  I've had a shell and half finished aussie 4 speed adapter sitting on my garage floor for over two years now.  50th Ann nationals will hopefully make me pull the finger out and finish it all off.  (provide the friartucking boss doesn't send me to India too many times between now and then!!)

Well I'm back in Australia long enough for a quick holiday with the family and sort out the ten ton of paper work on my desk before heading back to the land of curries for another month or so.

Just a quick note to wish everyone a Happy Nationals and a safe trip to and home again

and that I'm jealous of you all!!

Have a great time and enjoy the beer and sights.
